Statement of Faith

The 10 things we believe, based on the Bible. Click each item to read.

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in the mystery of the Holy Trinity: GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, and GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT. In His infinite knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory.

We believe the Bible is the spoken Word of God, consisting of the Old and New Testaments. As the Word of the LORD inspired through human authors, the Bible is without error in the original manuscripts, is the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and is the highest authority given to humankind to shed light on every area of life. Therefore, people must believe all that the Bible teaches, obey all that it commands, and trust in all of its promises.

We believe God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. As descendants of Adam, all people are sinners by nature and by choice, separated from God and under His wrath. The only way of escape is to humbly receive God’s redemption through Jesus Christ, so that each person may be rescued, reconciled, and renewed.

We believe Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person with two natures. Jesus is the Messiah awaited by the Jewish people — He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified on the cross under the order of Pontius Pilate, truly rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father as the High Priest and Advocate of all who believe.

We believe Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection are the only foundation of salvation.

We believe the Holy Spirit does all things to glorify Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of sin. He regenerates sinners, and in the Holy Spirit they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips, and empowers believers to live and serve more and more like Jesus Christ.

We believe the true Church consists of all who have been justified by grace through faith in Jesus alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. The true Church is expressed in local churches, whose true members are sincere believers only. Jesus commanded two ordinances, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which express the visible and invisible realities of the Gospel. Although these ordinances are not means of salvation, when the Church celebrates them in genuine faith, they confirm and nourish the spiritual life of believers.

We believe that God’s justifying grace cannot be separated from His sanctifying purpose and power. God commands us to love Him and others wholeheartedly, and to live out our faith with care for one another, showing compassion for the poor and justice for the oppressed. Through God’s Word, the power of the Spirit, and fervent prayer in the name of Jesus, we must resist the forces of spiritual darkness. In obedience to Christ’s Great Commission, we must make disciples of all nations, always bearing witness to the Gospel in word and deed.

We believe Jesus Christ will soon return personally and bodily in glory. The time of Christ’s return is known to God alone; it therefore calls believers to constant expectation as their glorious hope, moving them to live godly lives, to serve wholeheartedly, and to proclaim the Gospel with zeal.

We believe God commands all people everywhere to urgently receive the Gospel by coming to Him, repenting of their sins, and believing in Jesus Christ. We believe God will raise the dead and judge the world; those who refuse to believe will be condemned to eternal punishment, while those who trust in Him will enjoy everlasting blessing and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and new earth, living to praise His glorious grace forever. Amen.
